Chris Younken
[Lead Guitar, Background Vocal]
State College PA musician Chris Younken joined The Earthtones in
September of '99. He has paid his bills by either performing music on stage,
engineering audio [live, studio & TV] or producing CDs for local and
regional musicians for over 30 years. He taught himself to play electric
bass and guitar in his teens, At age 20, he became a cello performance major
at Penn State University studying under Leonard Feldman. Music being
his passion he played in 2 local orchestras, all kinds of bands from folk
to heavy metal and coffeehouse duos performing everything from Bach to Rock.
As a guitarist, one of his career highlights was being the opening act at
the Philadelphia River Blues Festival with regional R&B
band, Code Blue.
.For over 22 years The Earthtones have developed a
sound of their own that is built around RT's deep sonorous voice. It's been
17 years since The Earthtones released any new originals but they are writing
again and are very excited about their forthcoming CD which they promise
will be well worth the wait.
Chris has a limited number of openings for guitar & bass
lessons and is also available as a freelance recording producer/engineer.
He has recently released a CD with his long time music buddy Jamie Shaler
a local Boston musician called "Christmas Chills". You can check
